Updates to the HS4KC Volunteer Process

Dear Head Start for Kent County Parents,

We are writing to inform you of some updates to our Volunteer Process. Due to various changes in requirements from the state and the Office of Head Start, all volunteers (parents and non-parents) are now (being) required to be fully vaccinated, wear a mask at all times while volunteering, and have a Public Sex Offender Registry (PSOR) run prior to volunteering.

  • Please note that all volunteers will be required to have their vaccination cards or a photocopy of it with them at all times while volunteering. If you are in need of assistance getting a replacement card, contact your primary care provider. (Alternatively, you might benefit from this link: https://www.accesskent.com/Health/lost-covid-vaccine-card.htm/.)

At this time, volunteers who do not meet the new requirements will be placed on hold until our team has appropriately updated our procedures and forms as well as trained our staff on these new changes. These steps are put in place to ensure that we, as an agency, are following any and all guidelines given to us and to make sure our children are safe as we welcome volunteers into our buildings.

Having volunteers in our buildings is something that we strongly encourage and advocate for because of the multitude of benefits it brings our sites and children. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this transition. We look forward to having volunteers back in our sites soon!

If you have additional questions regarding this process, please contact me or your site staff.

Sincerely,

John Robinson
