WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students)

Purpose Statement:

To provide a positive male role model to students at site.

Position Summary:

The Watch D.O.G.S (Dads of Great Students) program is an opportunity for fathers or father-figures to volunteer at their child’s school. The Watch D.O.G.S selects the day and the amount of time spent at the school. They are a positive male role model to students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.

Key Responsibilities (include one or more of the following):

1. Reading a book to children in class.
2. Assisting with traffic flow at school entrances during pickup and/or drop off hours
3. Serving and eating lunch with children.
4. Assisting teachers during class activities, transitions, and play time.
5. Maintaining a positive atmosphere by greeting and giving high-fives to children.
6. Performing all other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions (as needed to perform specific volunteer assignment):

• Able to communicate well with office staff, teachers, and children.
• Requires ability to sit, stand, walk, run, and keep up with children.
• Able to provide visual and auditory supervision of children while at school.
• Able to guide, play, and interact with children in a positive manner.
