Statement of Solidarity Video

Dear fellow HS4KC staff,

It is hard to believe we are approaching three months since we first shared our solidarity message with staff, enrolled families, and the community after the murder of George Floyd. Since then we have been faced with so many additional incidents of racism, oppression, and police brutality. In the latest nationally recognized incident, Jacob Blake’s children were witnesses to the brutality and trauma as they watched their father get shot seven times in the back. This hits particularly close to home as we think of the children we serve every day at Head Start and the trauma many of them experience and how we strive to provide a safe environment for their learning.

At this time, we would like again to share our message of solidarity with our staff, the families we serve and the community at large. Below you will find the video we will be sharing on our website and social media platforms. In addition, we have included some next steps in this email for us as an agency, both individually and collectively. I hope you will join us in embarking on this journey of learning, growth and real change.

Sincerely,
